TOO TIRED and NO TIME TO KNIT!!!

January 18, 2009

I haven’t had any time to knit!  I’ve been teaching my winter intersession class and I get home around 10:45 pm and I’m TOO TIRED TO KNIT!!!  On Friday night I had a few hours that I could have knit but I was TOO TIRED!  Now THAT is really unusual for me.  Knitting has always been my favorite way to unwind after working all day, so the fact that I sat on the couch and didn’t knit was amazing!

However – today is Sunday and I’ve been knitting just a little bit on Reynold’s socks.  I’m going to take a picture in the next day or two to document my progress.  It’s such a beautiful day outside – perfect for knitting on the deck in the lounge chair.  I’m so happy I live in sunny southern CA and I don’t have to deal with freezing temperatures anymore!

Last day of freedom!

I finished my scarf today!

I finished my scarf today!

Today is my last day of freedom.  Winter intersession starts tomorrow night and I’m going to be very busy.  I’ve already postponed writing a syllabus and planning lessons so I could knit!  At least I accomplished a lot of knitting during my break.

I just finished my scarf.  Of course, I absolutely have to pick up my knitting needles right now, so the next thing I’m going to finish is Reynold’s socks.  I’m almost ready to do the heel.

Here’s what they look like right now:

Organized at last!!!

I’m so proud of myself!  Yesterday I finally organized all of my knitting needles.  Sounds like it shouldn’t be such a big deal, right?  Well, check out the pictures below and you’ll see all the needles I have.  (Who on earth needs so many needles?!!!!)

All of my circular and dpn needles are in this cool little case.

Rockin’ rollin’ knitting day!

January 3, 2009

Wow!  I can hardly believe I’ve finished so many projects during my vacation!  Here’s are some pictures.  I finished Rod’s scarf  last night.  Of course, I couldn’t let my knitting needles rest so I had to wind the yarn I got for Christmas so I could start a scarf for myself.  I absolutely LOVE the color of my Christmas yarn.  What a great gift!!!!  I did some research on Ravelry and found the perfect pattern using the dropped leaf stitch.  I really like how it’s turning out.  It’s  not only beautiful yarn to look at, but delightful yarn to knit with.  I  will be so sad when I have to return to work and can’t spend a lot of time knitting like I have been!

The shrug is done!

The shrug is done!

Here are some pictures of the shrug! I actually finished most of it last night – about 15 minutes before leaving for the party. All I had to do today was sew up the side seams and voila! It’s DONE! Yippee!!  On to my next project . . .  Rod’s scarf.  Pictures to come!

New Year’s Eve Day

December 31, 2008

Happy New Year’s!  I plan on finishing my shrug today or tomorrow (or maybe the next day – depends on how much wine I drink tonight)!!!  I have several New Year’s resolutions for 2009.  One thing I am definitely going to do is keep my blog updated.   I spend so much of my free time knitting that I really want to keep a record of what I’m making.  I also want to learn how to be a better blogger.  There are so many cool knitting blogs out there that I’d like to keep up with.  I get lots of great ideas from other knitters and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who’s obsessed with knitting!

Since I have the time to update my blog, I thought I’d add a few more pictures of my knitting from the past few months. I really don’t know how I find the time to make all of this! I just can’t seem to stop knitting obsessively! It really is my way to relax and meditate, on some level.

I saw this kit at the Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool festival and just HAD to make it!

The AFGHAN IS FINISHED – AT LAST!@!!!!!!

I think this afghan took over 100 hours to finish! Although I started it in MAY (2008) – I did most of it this past week. I never thought I’d be done, but I finally finished it about 1:30 this afternoon. Now I can finally finish the shrug and about 100 other things I want to knit. I really don’t like to crochet very much, so it was hard to finish. No more crocheted afghans for me (at least for awhile)!

Elle-Myra Shrug

Here’s a picture of the beautiful shrug created by Myra Wood and Ellene Warren. Last weekend I took Myra’s class at Stitch Cafe to learn how to make this shrug and I’m halfway finished. To the right is a picture of my own shrug. I think it shows the beautiful lace pattern very clearly. I can’t wait to finish it. (I hope it looks as good on me as it does on the model above)!!

Myra was kind enough to share her bead-knitted cell phone pattern with me, so I made FIVE this weekend! There’s just not enough time to do all the knitting I am planning on!My bead-knitted cell-phone bags

Knitting and Hiking!

I asked a hiker who was passing by to take my picture so I could use it for the “Summer of Socks” photo showing me knitting on vacation! I must admit that I wasn’t actually knitting here. It would have been a great place to knit if I didn’t want to get back to my campsite, which was about an hour away.

Here’s a picture of the socks I’m making for Mick.  I think they’re going to be the best pair I’ve ever made!!!!!!  Updates will follow!

Here’s a picture of the baby sweater that I’m going to give Kelly at her baby shower this Saturday!
